Frequently Asked Questions
- When building a tower light can I use different types of lights?
Yes. You can mix the types of lights used in a tower. It is possible to have LED, incandescent and Xenon strobes in the same tower, however, all the light sources must be the same voltage. See the ecatalog for complete details.
- I want to have the tower light assembled by the factory. Will they do that?
The Compact 30 and Half Dome 90 come preassembled directly from the Auer factory. The other size tower lights can be assembled in the field or you may order them assembled from Sprecher + Schuh. See the ecatalog or Tower Lights Configurator app for how to build a complete assembled tower light catalog number.
- I want to install a traffic light in my warehouse. Is there a way to join three beacons together?
Yes. You can join the Series Q beacons together using an AMK mounting kit, you can join as many beacons as you want. The beacons come in four different sizes. Only the same size beacons can be joined together.
- Is there an easier way to build a tower light order number? I have tried using the catalog but seem to always get the part number or price incorrect.
Yes. You can use the online Tower Lights Configurator app. The configurator guides you through the selection process and will not let you choose incompatible components. Not only will the configurator give you the complete product number for the tower light, it will also list the components that make up the assembled tower light. You can order all the parts individually and assemble it yourself, or have the tower light built by the factory. The configurator will also price the tower light for you, and send a quotation directly to you or your customer via e-mail.

When to use High Performance LED Light Modules
The main advantage of “HIGH PERFORMANCE” LED modules is that the signaling product can be clearly seen in bright sunlight, therefore they are suitable for OUTDOOR applications. Sunlight is a portion of the electromagnetic radiation given off by the sun, particularly infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light. The use of “HIGH PERFORMANCE” LEDs in connection with intelligent electronics results in an optimal highest signaling effect twice as bright as standard LEDs, even in corrosive atmospheres. High Performance LEDs provide up to 50,000 hours of operation. These modules are available in 24V AC/DC only, with steady, strobe and multi-strobe light modules for the ECOmodul70 and with steady and multi-strobe light modules for the ECOmodul60. High Performance LEDs are also available on Series N 90mm Beacons.

Can I combine size #1 with size #2 Beacons and Alarms?
For Series Q Beacons or Series A Sounders, you cannot combine different sizes, such as size #1 (94mm) with size #2 (132mm) or size #3 (184mm) with size #4 (228mm) respectively. Only like sized beacons “Q” or sounders “A” can be combined with the AMK mounting kit. Beacon “Q” and Sounders “A” can also be mounted as single units in any direction with the metal bracket mounting kit (accessory AB1-AB4). Same sized Beacons “Q” can be combined in different colors with mounting kit AMK for any process control industry applications, such as fire alarm, gas alarm, marine, and for general applications such as Traffic Control Signals as shown in the picture. See the Beacons catalog section for more details on combining Beacons Q with Sounders A to create a visual plus audible signaling device.
