Converting a CA7 Contactor with an AC Coil to a DC Coil
QUESTION:
Can I swap coils from AC to DC (or vice versa) within the same contactor?
ANSWER:
For sizes CA7-9...55 Contactors, NO!
The CA7-9...55 Contactors cannot be converted from an AC - and, it cannot be converted from a DC to an AC coil. This is because the coil armatures used with the AC and DC coils are different.
For sizes CA7-60...97 Contactors, YES!
The CA7-60...97 Contactors can be converted from an AC coil to a DC coil (or DC to AC) in the field by ordering the repair coil part numbers listed in Sprecher+Schuh catalog.
